Professional Goals
My goal is to provide my future patients with the best experience possible and for them to feel how much I truly care about what I'm doing. Learning from my own life experiences as a constant patient within the health care world, my life and career goals shifted to include making my future patients feel listened to, respected, and humanized in a health care setting- NOT just like a number, a dollar sign, or an illness on a chart. This is my goal because, unfortunately, that human interaction rarely feels like it happens in our fast-paced field. Experiencing these types of interactions as a patient myself is, in-part, what made me want to join this health care profession and change that phenomenon upon entering the field.

Additionally, my career goal is to be the reason why patients chose the facility I'm employed at, for when they need to seek out diagnosis or treatment. I want to build rapport with every patient I come in connect with, and ease their concerns/fears about the diagnostic testing we will complete. My goal is to live out my employers’ vision and mission every single day. But most importantly, my goal is to never stop improving in my career and patient care skills. These goals can be achieved simply by working hard every day, advocating for my patients, and always showing up with a positive, calming attitude and smile- despite any outside or inside situation.

While looking ahead to settling down, I realized just how many opportunities for growth this career provides. Technology and practices in this field are ever-changing, and my goal is to always remain aware of happenings within Radiology. An exciting aspect of this career is that the opportunity always exists to change modalities; and so another goal of mine is to narrow down which modalities initially interest me, while always maintaining an open mind throughout my entire career. I am no stranger to change, and it certainly doesn't scare me; therefore, I know this goal will be achieved as long as I have the bravery to step outside my comfort zone and try something new when it peaks my interest.
I also love to teach, and so the opportunity exists to become an educator one day. Regardless, being employed at a facility with a local Radiography program often gives the opportunity for technologists to be mentors/teachers to students, and I would definitely love to be employed at one of those locations in order to provide that service.

In the short term (ie. two years), I’ve chosen to set educational and life goals that are more readily achievable and foreseeable. These include simply graduating, having done the absolute best I can (and having worked as hard as I could), and then finding a job in an area that I love and can begin to achieve all my other professional and life goals in.
